Xero is retiring its Global Pay Run feature as part of its strategic move to focus on region-specific payroll solutions and stronger integrations with third-party apps. If your business currently uses this feature, now is the time to start preparing to avoid disruption.
Key Dates to Know
From 23 July 2025: The Global Pay Run feature will enter read-only mode. You’ll still be able to view past payroll records, but you can no longer process new pay runs.
From April 2026: The feature will be fully retired, and even read-only access will be removed.
Why Is This Happening?
Xero is streamlining its payroll offerings. They are:
Focusing on dedicated payroll platforms in selected regions.
Encouraging users in other regions to adopt localized, compliant payroll solutions through third-party integrations.

Export your payroll history before April 2026.
