What happened to the PSG Grant?

PSG, EDG and MRA ceased on 29 September 2026. From 30 September 2026, businesses apply for relevant support under the EDGE Grant, which brings the three schemes together under one framework.

If you were planning to use PSG for digitalisation or productivity improvements, the funding landscape has changed. Instead of navigating PSG, EDG and MRA separately, SMEs now need to identify the EDGE activity that best fits what they want to achieve.

Here’s what business owners and managers need to know.

What Is the EDGE Grant?

The EDGE Grant is Singapore’s consolidated business grant framework.

It brings together three former schemes:

  • Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG)

  • Enterprise Development Grant (EDG)

  • Market Readiness Assistance (MRA)

PSG, EDG and MRA ceased on 29 September 2026, and EDGE launched on 30 September 2026.

Despite the capital letters, EDGE is not an acronym. The name reflects the aim of helping enterprises gain an edge over their competitors.

Is EDGE Simply PSG With a New Name?

No. This is the key difference for SMEs.

EDGE is broader than PSG. It combines support previously available through PSG, EDG and MRA within one framework.

The EDGE Grant covers eight business areas and more than 150 activities, spanning needs such as digitalisation, financial management, innovation, internationalisation and sustainability.

Instead of asking, “Which grant should I apply for?” Start with a more useful question:

“What does my business need to achieve?”

How Much EDGE Funding Can SMEs Receive?

The support level depends on the activity.

SMEs can generally receive up to 50% support, while non-SMEs can receive up to 30%. For internationalisation and sustainability activities, support can reach up to 70% for SMEs and up to 50% for non-SMEs.

Each company is also subject to an annual EDGE cap of S$100,000 across all eligible activities. The cap runs from 1 April to 31 March of the following year.

Within the S$100,000 overall cap, a S$30,000 annual cap applies to specified Automation & Digitalisation support.

For SMEs, the cap makes one thing clear: prioritise the projects that will make the biggest difference to your business.

Who Can Apply for the EDGE Grant?

At the general programme level, applicants must:

  • Be registered and operating in Singapore

  • Have at least 30% ownership, directly or indirectly, by Singaporean(s) and/or Singapore PR(s), determined by ultimate individual ownership

Other requirements may apply depending on the chosen activity.

Meeting the general criteria does not automatically mean that every project, expense or digital solution will qualify.

Always check the requirements for your chosen activity before committing.

What Happens to Existing PSG Applications and Projects?

Existing applications and projects do not need to restart under EDGE.

Applications submitted under PSG, EDG or MRA before 30 September 2026 will continue to be assessed under their respective former schemes. Ongoing projects will also continue through completion and claim disbursement.

Previous PSG, EDG and MRA grant utilisation does not reduce the new EDGE grant cap .

However, EDGE is intended for new projects. A business should not seek EDGE support for the same project that previously received support under PSG, EDG or MRA.

Can SMEs Apply for More Than One EDGE Activity?

Yes.

A company can submit multiple applications at the same time for different activities. Each activity requires a separate application, and all approved support remains subject to the applicable annual grant cap.

Choose projects based on business impact, not just the availability of funding.

Before You Apply: 5 Things SMEs Should Know

1. Start With the Business Problem

Before looking at grant percentages, identify what you need to improve.

Are manual processes taking up too much time? Do you want to digitalise your accounting, improve financial visibility, automate operations or enter a new market?

Start with the outcome. Then identify the EDGE activity that best fits it.

2. Find the Relevant EDGE Activity

EDGE covers more than 150 activities across eight business areas.

Look for the activity that matches your intended project rather than assuming there is a direct replacement for every PSG solution.

3. Check the Requirements Carefully

There is no single set of conditions for every EDGE project.

Eligibility, documentation, supported costs and vendor requirements may vary by activity. Some activities require a pre-approved vendor, while others may allow businesses to choose their own.

Review the specific conditions before selecting a solution or supplier.

4. Apply Before Starting Work or Paying

This is important.

If your business starts work or makes any payment or deposit to a supplier, vendor or third party before submitting the EDGE application, the application is considered retrospective and will not be supported.

A business may proceed after successfully submitting an application but before receiving approval.

However, approval is not guaranteed, so the company bears the financial risk of doing so.

5. Plan for Reimbursement

EDGE operates on a reimbursement basis, not as a cash advance.

Claims can be submitted after the supported activity is completed and full payment has been made.

For cash-conscious SMEs, this should be considered from the start of project planning.

PSG to EDGE: What Should SMEs Take Away?

The transition from PSG to EDGE is more than a rebrand.

EDGE brings PSG, EDG and MRA together under a broader framework, giving businesses one place to explore support for different growth and improvement priorities.

For SME owners, the key takeaway is:

Start with the business outcome, not the grant name.

Identify what you want to fix, automate, improve or grow. Then find the relevant EDGE activity and understand its conditions before starting the project.

EDGE Grant FAQs for Singapore SMEs

What Happened to the PSG Grant?

PSG, together with EDG and MRA, ceased on 29 September 2026. From 30 September 2026, businesses seeking new support under the consolidated framework apply through EDGE.

No. EDGE is not simply a new name for PSG. It combines PSG, EDG and MRA within one framework covering a broader range of business needs.

The amount depends on the activity. SMEs can generally receive up to 50% support, with support of up to 70% for internationalisation and sustainability activities.

Each company is subjected to an overall EDGE cap of S$100,000 per year.

Yes. Automation & Digitalisation is one of the areas covered by EDGE, including support for eligible digitalisation activities.

The exact eligibility, solution and vendor requirements depend on the relevant activity.

CR Consultancy also has experience supporting businesses with Xero. Under the former PSG, CR x Xero Cloud Accounting was listed as a supported solution, with CR Consultancy Pte. Ltd. named as the vendor.

It depends on the activity.

For EDGE activities with pre-approved vendors, businesses should choose from the applicable list. Where a pre-approved vendor is not required, businesses may engage a vendor of their choice.

Can I Pay a Vendor Before Applying for EDGE?

No. Starting work or making any payment or deposit to a supplier, vendor or third party before submitting the application makes the application retrospective. Retrospective applications are not supported.

Applications submitted before 30 September 2026 continue to be assessed under the requirements of the former scheme. Ongoing projects can also continue through completion and claim disbursement.

Does Previous PSG Funding Reduce My EDGE Grant Cap?

No. Previous utilisation under PSG, EDG and MRA is not included when calculating the EDGE grant cap.

However, EDGE is intended for new projects. Businesses should not seek EDGE funding for the same project that previously received support under one of the former schemes.

Planning Your Next Step Under EDGE?

The move from PSG to EDGE is a good opportunity to step back and ask: what does your business need to improve next?

That could mean digitalising your accounting, automating time-consuming work, improving financial visibility or adopting better systems to support growth.

At CR Consultancy, we work with Singapore SMEs on their accounting, processes and digitalisation needs.

With EDGE bringing PSG, EDG and MRA under a broader framework, SMEs now have a wider range of business activities to consider.

*Grant eligibility and approval are determined by the relevant government agencies. EDGE requirements vary by activity. Businesses should confirm the applicable activity, solution and vendor requirements before starting work or making payment.
